I passionately solve functional problems before making them beautiful, simple and delightful. I enjoy collaborating with my team to create a seamless flow that works elegantly and fluidly with a clean interface. A product cannot be successful until it is thoughtfully functional and only then can it be a truly beautiful experience.

 

 

 

 

I've been with Carvana for 4 incredible years, working and learning from launch through many redesigns. The company has doubled and in some cases tripled year over year in inventory sold, employees hired, markets expanded, investments garnered and features launched. I'm proud to have played a part in Carvana's huge success and growth. I have excelled at communicating my design choices with stakeholders, product managers, and developers by exploring new ways of presenting, thoughtfully prototyping, efficiently collaborating and illustrating interactions. I love the challenge of creating completely new products for the world; no one is creating an experience for customers quite like Carvana. Beyond that, here are some personal tid bits about me:

RESEARCH

 

Depending on the project this could include inspiration gathering, studying user behavior, reaffirming best practices, competition analysis, finding the user's problem, and interviews.

DEFINE THE GOAL

 

Based on the user's or business' problem, define the goal. This can be based on the research, supporting data and examples. This step is crucial for focusing the design toward the desired end product.

SKETCH & WIREFRAME

 

I still love pen and paper. For me, it's the quickest and fastest way to get my ideas out and to communicate to my team. White boarding is great too. Once a few directions are decided upon, then I can create interactive wireframes to start testing our assumptions to find one solution to move forward with.

HIGH FIDELITY & PROTOTYPING

 

Once a general direction is decided upon, we can get down to the visual design. I'll do some preliminary mobile and desktop mocks to make sure the solution works for across devices. Then use a prototyping software like InVision to get an idea for how the design works.

PRESENTATION & TESTING

 

Now that we have a workable prototype, getting this rough design solution in front of stake holders, product managers, engineers and especially users is important. At this stage the solution is really beginning to take shape and feedback is crucial. The earlier users and engineers see the design, the better.

PRODUCTION & QA

 

Now I communicate the responsive design and CSS styles to the development team clearly so that it can be ready for production as efficiently as possible. Then it's important to make sure that the site looks and functions as the designs called for.

ITERATION

 

So now the design is out in the wild. Are the solutions and assumptions we've made working? Are users feeling that the problem has been solved? As difficult as it may be, this step is an important consideration because there are always things that slip through the cracks or a new case that needs an even better solution.
